Amanda Gorman is an American Youngest Poet from Los Angeles, California. Amanda is Poet Making History At President Joe Biden inauguration Ceremony. In the United States, she is the Youngest inaugural Poet.
Gorman has placed up a long list of achievements in her relatively short career thus far. At the age 16 she was named the youth poet laureate of Los Angeles.
When she was at the age of 19, she was honored as the first National Youth Poet Laureate. At the Gracie Mansion in New York City, Amanda accepted the honor.
In 2016, she was invited to the Obama White House with other youth poets as a part of a celebration. Amanda later overreached to girlboss about what it was like to meet Michelle Obama.
In October 2020, Gorman was also invited as a guest for a PBS Kids special about racism.

Early Life and Education

Amanda Gorman was raised by her mother whose name is Joan Wicks and she is a teacher and she has a twin sister and brother also. Gabrielle, who is her twin sister is an activist.
Amanda told that she grew up with limited television access. She had a speech obstruction as a child. She has described herself as a “Informal child” who enjoyed writing and reading and was always encouraged by her mother.
Gorman had participated in speech therapy during her childhood and Elida Kocharian. In 2018, The Harvard Crimson writes , “Gorman doesn’t view her speech impediment as a crutch rather, she sees it as a gift and a strength”.

Dr.Jill Biden nominated Gorman for the role according to the Associated Press. Amanda told the Associated Press that she largely appreciated free rein over the poem but was encouraged to highlight “Unity and Hope”.
Amanda said the Biden team also approved that she stay away from anything that might sound like they were celebrating the end of president Donald Trump’s time.
Amandan said to the Associated Press that she got “a second wave of energy to finish the Poem” on the events.
She also said that the poem “The Hill We Climb”, which she gave titled will take her about six minutes to read.
Amanda Gorman also said that the poem would reference what she described as “the confederate insurrection” especially without calling out anyone. She shared a couple of poetry with The New York Times.
Poetry and Activism
Amanda was selected as the youth poet laureate of Los Angeles in 2014.
In 2015, she published the poetry book which is “The One For Whom Food Is Not Enough.
She said that she was inspired to become a Youth delegate for the United Nations in 2013.
Gorman focuses on issues of Freedom,race, Feminist movement and marginalized communities, as well as the African diaspora. Amanda is the founder of the nonprofit organization which is “One Pen One page”.
Amanda Gorman became the first author to be featured in 2017. In XQ Institutes’s Book of the month, For Nike, she wrote a tribute for Black athletes and gave out a book with “Viking Children’s Books “to write a “Two Children’s Picture Books”.
Gorman appeared in an episode of the web series “Some Good News” which is hosted by John Krasinski, where she had the opportunity to meet Oprah Winfrey and given a virtual speech to those who could not attend that commencements due to the COVID-19 Pandemic in the U.S in 2020 may.

Amanda Gorman recently graduated from Harvard University. She has Two books with penguin random house, the first one is a children’s book “Change Sings” and the second an upcoming poetry collection.
Gorman is the first person who announced her intention to run for president in 2036. By that time she will have enough knowledge about this. She said this to L.A.Times that vice president Harris reinvigorated her plans.
