Panjabi became known for portraying negative roles in Indian television serials like Reth, Astitva…Ek Prem Kahani and Banoo Mein Teri Dulhann. Panjabi has also played positive roles in Piya Ka Ghar, Maryada: Lekin Kab Tak and Kyun Hota Hai Pyaar.
